Senior Interaction Designer, Google Pay

The Google Payments team is operating in one of the most dynamic and fast-paced environments today, and the Consumer Payments team is leading the charge on many fronts. The industry is undergoing a change as new technologies and interaction patterns evolve, and Google Pay is leading the way and trying to build the next generation of how users interact with money.

The consumer team is working on rapid market app experiments that focus on the discovery and ease of use for core user journeys. The team is looking for a designer to bring in strategic product and design thinking, liaise with designers across streams in India and across Payments UX to share learnings and influence experiences for other geographies.

As an Interaction Designer for Google Pay, you will work across Product Managers, Marketing Managers, Engineers, Researchers and other cross-functional leads to define, design, and launch innovative features and programs to drive user engagement. You will be responsible for understanding our users and defining product experiences to make their interactions with money more meaningful, seamless, and delightful.

Note: Google will be prioritizing applicants who have a current right to work in Singapore, and do not require Google's sponsorship of a visa.

Minimum qualifications
  • 8 years of experience in UX Design.

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of Designers, Researchers, Engineers, Content Strategists, and Product Managers throughout the design process.

  • Portfolio highlighting multiple projects that demonstrates experience crafting digital interfaces, and designing consumer-focused, app/mobile products.

Preferred qualifications
  • 10 years of experience working as a UX Designer or in a similar role.

  • Experience with industry standard design tools (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Figma).

  • Experience working with early stage efforts, negotiating with ambiguity and driving projects forward.

  • Experience designing across emerging markets, with the knowledge of the challenges facing the mobile app ecosystem.

  • Ability to build influential relationships and deliver results in a cross-functional/matrix environment.

  • Excellent application interaction and visual design skills and a portfolio of interactive consumer-facing mobile products.

Responsibilities
  • Define, shape, and own the goals for growth strategies and features, in partnership with Product Management, Partner Marketing Management, and Engineering.

  • Identify, drive, and own opportunities across Google Pay, informed by user and business insights and domain expertise.

  • Implement and execute innovative, insightful, and practical design solutions and relationships for driving user acquisition, retention, and engagement in Google Pay.

  • Create new designs including user flows, wireframes, mocks, or prototypes in partnership with design leads. Rationalize and justify design work and advocate for all types of users needs.

  • Advocate for Product Excellence principles (i.e., simple design, focused utility, and crafted execution).
